Meet Our Field Team: Heroes of Ocean Conservation

Behind every successful conservation program are dedicated individuals working in the field. Today, we spotlight the remarkable people who make our ocean protection work possible.

Dr. Ana Lopez – Coral Restoration Specialist

“Every coral fragment I plant is a tiny act of hope. Some days, I spend six hours underwater, carefully attaching coral to restoration structures. It’s physically demanding work, but seeing a bleached reef come back to life makes it all worthwhile.”

Ana has personally planted over 15,000 coral fragments across Caribbean restoration sites over the past five years.

Marcus Williams – Marine Mammal Response

“When I get a call about a stranded dolphin or whale, everything else stops. These animals need help immediately, and every minute counts. My phone is on 24/7, 365 days a year.”

Marcus leads our Southeast regional rescue team and has participated in over 200 marine mammal rescues.

Sarah Nkrumah – Community Educator

“The most rewarding part of my job is seeing the moment when a child connects with the ocean. That spark of wonder – that’s what creates the next generation of ocean protectors.”

Sarah has brought marine education to over 50,000 students in underserved coastal communities.
